Marrowstone details

East Beach has such an ordinary name but so many facets to observe (with smells and sounds too) and so many opportunities for human interaction. Kids and adults all enjoy the summery days.

Saint Anne and the Virgin Mary

Having made a trip to help Lizzette with the housekeeping during her maternity leave and to meet Ana and planning another visit in August to ease the transition to day care, it was not feasible to make it for the baptism, but I ordered these images.

Botanical Garden and the UN in San Andres

The National University has a small branch in San Andres and has recently organized a botanical garden for pedagogical an research purposes. The round shiny green fruit are gourds or totumas and the fruit seen at the entrance is breadfruit.

The fresh fish, conch, crab and lobster on the beaches of Providence was abundant and inexpensive. The side dishes were patacon or fried plantain and rice with coconut. At Miss Celia's and the fisherman's coop in San Andres we had the local fish stew, rondon or "run down".

Manzanilla Bay

At this outdoor discoteque, fresh coconuts and beer replace the soft drinks we no longer drink. The music was very pleasant.
